Spring 2019

Aaron has been very busy this spring teaching students in Brooklyn and Queens through programs with Leap and The Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, as well as New York City Center. It has been amazing watching his students grow in the last few months, some devising work about their families, and others learning music and choreography to Freak Flag from Shrek: The Musical.

Playgrounded (www.playgroundedimprov.com) had a successful winter session, doubling the number of classes it runs. Jordan and Aaron have been regularly planning for what’s next, and are putting together some exciting classes for the fall.

Aaron enjoyed taking some improv classes at The Magnet during the last few months, and met some hilarious people. In February, he found some time to get away from the city, taking a trip down to Texas to check out Austin and San Antonio.

This fall, Aaron will be attending NYU Steinhardt’s Educational Theatre program to get his Masters. He is excited to learn more about both teaching and theater!

Finally, a return to French Woods is just around the corner, and this summer Aaron is excited to direct Groundhog Day, Romeo and Juliet, The Alien Logs of Super Jewels, and Mamma Mia! But maybe most of all, he is looking forward to spending time with some incredible friends, and once again heading Improv Troupe.

(Aaron also really, really, really misses the Drama Bookshop.)

Winter 2019

Aaron has been very busy this fall and winter! He has been splitting his time applying to grad school programs, while teaching with Leap, Inside Broadway, JCAL, and getting his own students ready for their college auditions. He was also recently hired by NY City Center as a teaching artist on the Encores! program.

Playgrounded (Improv Classes for Kids and Teens in NYC) had successful fall classes, with a culminating performance at Lincoln Center, and is about to launch their winter session. Check out www.playgroundedimprov.com for more info!

Finally, Aaron has continued to be heavily involved in improv, taking classes at The Magnet Theater, and continuing to perform with his Indie Team, My First Tattoo!

Playgrounded Improv

Aaron recently founded Playgrounded: Improv Classes for Kids and Teens in NYC with his friend Jordan Bialik.

Playgrounded offers fun, yet challenging classes. Playgrounded students learn to take ownership of their improv skills while developing strong relationships with their peers, and having a blast along the way.

Playgrounded’s style is based around creating grounded, yet playful scenes. In other words, we encourage our students to Playgrounded!

Classes are currently enrolling! Check out www.playgroundedimprov.com for more information.

Suburban Kids With Biblical Names- Round 3!

This week, Aaron hosted a reading of his play, Suburban Kids With Biblical Names, at Disney Theatrical.  Much of the previous cast returned for the read, and Aaron received some helpful insight from some fellow artists.  He is looking forward to the next stop on the journey of this play!

UBU SHIT SHOW

Aaron will be performing tonight in the UBU SHIT SHOW at The Tank!

bastardized from Alfred Jarrys Ubu Roi by Randy Blair

Celebrate mischief night with a one-night-only performance of UBU SHIT SHOW, the trump hatef*ck weve all been waiting for.

Trigger warning: actual living hell or real current events? this show contains references to and depictions of murder, rape, shitting, f*cking, fried chicken, genocide, the paranormal, Israel, death metal, virulent vocal racism, twitter, puppetry, fellatio, nuclear war, limited perspectives on gender, golf, foot racing, venture capitalism, telethons, conservative bashing, liberal bashing, bashing, islamophobia, enemas, parades, science, museums, broadway musicals, hardcore pornography, menstruation, global warming, windbreakers, kimchi, treason, dolphins, Vladimir Putin, and testicles.

F*ck Trump. Long-live Ubu.

Starring Randy Blair and Kate Weber as Pa and Ma Ubu respectively, not respectfully. Also Joshua William Gelb is directing this sorry excuse for an evening of political theater.

FALL(IN) BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS

Aaron had a wonderful 15th summer up at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts where he directed Fiddler on the Roof, Fame, All My Sons, and Zombie Prom, in addition to running the Improv Troupe, overseeing the One-Act Play Festival, teaching a variety of classes (including another awesome round of the popular class, Plays of the Week--a class in which the campers read fresh, and exciting contemporary works), directing the 5th Session Middle Camp Showcase, and finding some time to sleep here and there.

Aaron is currently back in New York, teaching at the Atlantic Acting School and running improv classes, getting this year's coaching students ready for college and other auditions, auditioning, and planning what's to come.

If you might be interested in working together in any capacity, don't hesitate to reach out!

Straight on 'Til Morning at the Queens Theatre

Charlotte's Web and More

Aaron has been pretty busy over the last year.  In the fall he reprised his role as Adrian in the workshop production of Straight on 'Til Morning with Wild Rumpus Productions.  Currently, Aaron is on the international tour of Theatreworks USA's production of Charlotte's Web playing Templeton.  This summer, he will return to direct at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts!

Straight On 'Til Morning Reading

This weekend, Aaron played Adrian in a reading of Wild Rumpus Productions' Straight on 'Til Morning.  The show is directed by Lee Kasper (Associate Director on Broadway's You Can't Take It With You).  Aaron was thrilled with the opportunity to read with Tony nominee Johanna Day (Proof, August: Osage County) and Patrick Mulryan (Roundabout's upcoming production of Into the Woods) who rounded out a cast of amazing actors.  He is very excited to get working on the show, which will have workshops in the near future.

You Can't Take It With You

Aaron has had the pleasure of working on Broadway's You Can't Take It With You for the last few weeks.  It has been a dream experience to work on such an incredible show with amazingly talented people.  Go check out the recently extended, hilarious production before it's too late!

Improv Show

Aaron has been working hard in rehearsals with his improv group, Soft Shell.  They had a blast performing at The Triple Crown earlier this month!  Look out for their upcoming shows.

Directing at French Woods

Aaron is currently wrapping up the final weeks of directing at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in Hancock, NY.  This summer he has had the privilege of working with amazing kids on Good News, Elf, Inherit the Wind, and The Boy Friend.  He is also directing the Improv Troupe and teaching a number of theater classes.  He is sad to see another great summer winding down.
